Medicaid Billing Supervisor (Rockville, Maryland)

Well-established Long-Term Operation has expanded its search for hiring for a Medicaid Billing Supervisor. The primary purpose of the position is to supervise the monthly billing for Medicaid and Hospice accounts; supervise the Medicaid application process; coordinate and reconcile ancillary charges; adjust and maintain accounts to reflect correct and current balances; process transactions in accordance with contractual terms and complex regulations governing private pay, Medicare, Medicaid and managed care; and to assure accurate accounting for financial statements and reports in accordance with current acceptable accounting and cost-reimbursement principles relating to the long-term care operation.

  • Working the remittance advice from Medicaid and making sure of accurate payments through making changes to the financial class, or correcting the account balance in accordance to the Medicaid disposition, or following up on the denied claims
  • Correcting errors on your assigned claims by either referencing the account notes, UB-04, the Medicaid state manual or by referring the claim to the appropriate facility representative for further follow-up and corrective action
  • Updating and documenting in the system all changes made to the account (s), and maintaining quality control on all accounts for the correct code, insurance address, and financial class
  • Managing the business unit’s billing and accounts receivable management functions and related information systems
  • Oversees entire revenue cycle, from charge capture/entry and collections at practice sites to billing and follow up on all outstanding claims
  • Improve efficiency for all services rendered with minimal write-offs
  • Interface with senior management team; provide regular and adhoc reporting as needed
  • Strive to improve processes and procedures

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years managing Medicaid billing/coding operations/department
  • Proven ability to develop and coach staff
  • Advanced understanding of billing form requirements (CMS 1450 and CMS 1500)
  • Advanced understanding of CPT, and ICD-9 coding regulations and guidelines
  • Advanced understanding of Medicaid billing and collection guideline
  • Knowledge of health care information systems (i.e. Point Click Care) and state Medicaid websites a plus
